The approach
The record
You drive to the end of the road and park where the asphalt gives up. The last petrol you will see is forty minutes back. The wind moves inland from the water hard enough to carry sand across the windshield.
The boat leaves Reine at 09:40. There is one a day in high season and none in the shoulder, so the shoulder is where you want to be. You carry what you can carry up a stair cut into the headland. The headland is wet with the water that spends every winter here and most of every other season.
You wait until the light softens, you walk down the fifth of six switchbacks, and you set up on the shelf before anyone else figures out this is a place you can set up on. You wait again. The window is sixteen minutes. The ocean is bigger than you remembered and quieter.
The ocean does not open to everyone. The ones she lets through, she expects to carry the record.
You come back the next day because you did not get the shot on the first one. You come back the day after that. On the third day the water is a different color and you understand the trip was not about the shot.

Moon phase alone does not make a safe window. Astronomical timings are calculated; live tide and weather forecasts are coming soon; crowds are patterns, not counts.
